Radio Nord Revival shifting to 9940 kHz

As all our 41 metre band frequencies are heavily disturbed by other stations we will be shifting to 9940 kHz at 2200 CET/SST (2000 UTC). Sofar this band has produced a quite modest signal but let us hope this will improve. Your reception comments are welcome as usual. The live transmissions from s/s S:t Erik have stopped so the programme is now running on autopilot.

We would also like to congratulate Herman Content of Gent, Belgium who won the Radio Nord DVD in  our draw. You will be receiving it in the post soon, Herman. Thank you all for submitting reception reports and keeping in touch this weekend.

  2. Sadly no trace of the 9940 kHz frequency at 20:00 UTC on Sunday 29th May 2011 at this QTH being 25 kilometers South West of London , England. There is a lot of noise on this channel but no carrier.

  6. There is certainly a signal there on 9940 kHz as at 20:50 UTC here in South West London but the noise level is so great that I can hardly make it out. This is by far the worse of the three days on 9940 kHz with the 27th May being the best of the three. Thanks once again for making the effort to extend these thirty one meter band transmission with what seems like a slight reduction in the noise level right now.

  8. Hi all Radio Nord friends,
I was all chuffed to see the studio at St. Erik where I met some very interesting Radio Nord connetions and after that to get to see the 1512 kHz TX site at Kvarnberget with Per yesterday. I am glad that I extended my visit to Sweden from my normal Swiss QTH and got to hear the 1512 kHz on my PC S/W radio and my Kchibo rubbish Chinese portable. Thanks to ALL of you Radio Nord fan(atic)s!

Hope to get the chance to revive the next anniversary some time on location in my old QTH Danderyd, Sweden. The only, sad, thing was that I wasn't able to monitor the short wave transmissions from my (still) regular Swiss QTH in Switzerland.

Unfortunately the Sun played a prank on the event by blowing a strong solar wind on us causing the A value to rise to over 36 (<10 is best) and K is still 5 now at the time of writing. Anyway, I will come back by Snail Mail to Ronny when I get back to HB-land next week.

A big thank you to all who made this event a 100% success!

  10. Noise has come up on channel 9940 kHz again spoiling reception:-( Suspect it may be from DRM transmission from India to Europe scheduled on 9950 kHz until 2230 I think.

  15. Date:... Sunday 29th May 2011.
    Time:... 21:00 to 22:20 UTC.
    Freq:... 9940 kHz.
QTH:.... Urban [Staines] , 25kms SW of London.
    Rx:..... Yaesu Musen FRG-8800.
Aer:.... External 15 meter "L" longwire.
    Sinpo:.. 33333.
Comment: Signal improved when the noise level decreased but by 22:10 UTC was getting noisey and QRM from a station on 9935 kHz is making reception impossible at this location.

Thank you once again for some rather historic
and interesting recordings of Radio Nord ,
which has grately improved my knowledge of the
original project back in 1960 and those broadcasts outside of Swedish water in 1961 to 1962. Many thanks to everyone connected with the revival project and hope you all had an enjoyable time over this final weekend in May.

  16. Are you still on at 2300Z? I had enough audio to record on 9939.95, LSB+carrier. Cuban jammer splatter took over after 2300Z.

  21. I made a pirate radio news programme to Scandinavian Weekend Radio and tomorrow saturday 4th of June it is on air 09.00-10.00UTC. In the end of the programme is a news of Radio Nord Revival and audio samples of 8th March programme recorded on 6060kHz. Nord Revival news is after 09.30UTC but I don't know exact time. Programme is in finnish language and mainly about landbased pirates heard in Finland, but also many audio samples.
